'Stories of the gods or a God, of how the world began, and of why natural phenomena occur are common to virtually all oral storytelling traditions. One such story, handed down by the ancient Hebrews, is recorded in the Book of Genesis in the Bible. It tells the story of how the first man (Adam) and first woman (Eve) lived in peace with the animals in the Garden of Eden until undone by temptation and curiosity.’
Back in 1170, the church was one of the most powerful institutions in that time. They used Doom Paintings to control and scaremonger people. It was the centre of every village, and it is thought that 80-90% of people went to church. The church would tell stories saying if you weren’t good then you would have to go to Hell, but if you were good and pay lots of money and obey the church then you would be sent to Heaven. If you worked for the church than you would be given free food, free medical care and have a better chance of ging to Heaven.
The storytelling of religion has guided people for centuries and gave people morals and kept the church in control.
